                   The Turkish language is one of the Turkic languages belonging to Oguz group. It is also called the Ottoman and Anatolian language. It is the official language of Turkey and Northern Cyprus, Turkish is also spoken in Syria, Lebanon and other countries.  Turkish is the most common language among the Turkic languages. At least 45 million people speak it.

 The Turkish language was strongly influenced by the Arabic and Persian languages. Under the influence of the Venetians (15th century), it received Italian borrowings. At about the same time the borrowings from Greek were formed, and in the 18th - 20th centuries French and English one. In the early 20th century the reform of the Turkish language and the transition from the Arabic to the Latin alphabet were carried out.
